Multi-lingual Braille Transcription
We can produce Braille in any language using the Western European (Latin) alphabet, those using the Russian (Cyrillic) alphabet, as well as some Asian alphabets.
How do we produce Braille transcription?
Ideally, you provide the document electronically and we do the rest. But we are happy to work with you every step of the way to bring the project you envision to reality.
We use quality bindings of the most practical and appropriate type and size for the job in question. If you require particular bindings, or special covers with your logo, we will be happy to help – just let us know. As a courtesy we can also provide a copy of the translated work in audio (mp3 or m4a), or in an e-book format, free of charge. We can deliver to you, or directly to your client, as required.
Why might you need Braille Transcription?
To comply with the UK’s 1995 Disability Discrimination Act, revised in 2010, private companies and public services alike must now accommodate the needs of the disabled: the blind and partially sighted amongst them. Offering Braille transcription of important documents helps to fulfil those obligations.
Why use Valleys Wordworks?
There are many Braille transcription services available on the market and a variety of specialist software packages that simplify the process of having your written material Brailled. Unfortunately, much variety exists in the quality of the final product. Our co-director Rebecca Blaevoet says:
As a user of Braille myself all my life, I know what good Braille should be and what it certainly is not. It takes a lot of care and a sound knowledge of how print is transformed into readable, truly accessible Braille to satisfy a customer.
If you are blind or partially sighted and use Braille yourself, you will probably know what you want and what to expect. If, on the other hand, you are ordering Braille on behalf of a client, customer or employee, we understand that Braille is something you might not be very familiar with. At Valleys WordWorks, we have first-hand knowledge of Braille usage and standards. We will know how to advise you.
What else do we produce in Braille?
We have a great range of tactile (raised print) products, some of which can be personalised to your requirements. We can also work with you to make your next project possible. Contact us for details or browse our online store.
